Re-signing quarterback Cam Newton could make more sense than ever for the Carolina Panthers ahead of a crucial 2022 campaign.

It is hard to imagine Cam Newton playing for anyone else except the Carolina Panthers. However, this seems like a legitimate possibility to happen again next season like it did in 2020.

Newton may have had a turbulent 2021 stint with the Panthers once his bombshell return was announced. But most of that was from factors outside of his control and it was always going to be difficult coming to a franchise so late in the campaign.

Carolina was in the middle of disarray when Newton joined. He had only a week of practice with the team before firstly stepping onto the field and was playing behind a truly horrific offensive line.

Not only this, but the Panthers also fired offensive coordinator Joe Brady midway through their bye week, which was another major blow to Newton’s chances of steering this sinking ship in the right direction.

All of these things had a role to play in Newton’s play being up and down with Carolina last season. However, most of these complications seem to have been rectified during an impressive offseason of recruitment from the organization in free agency so far.

Giving Newton another chance with the Panthers would be a nice sentimental move. But here are four reasons re-signing the former NFL MVP makes more sense than ever.
