4 reasons re-signing Cam Newton makes more sense than ever
Cam Newton is a leader in the locker room and across the community
Every locker room Cam Newton has been in, he has been the alpha dog. The quarterback leads on and off the field and the player’s work ethic and will to win are contagious.
Every coach or player who has worked with Newton will say the same thing. During his tenure with the New England Patriots, Newton received high praise from Bill Belicheck for these exact traits during his time with the team.
"“Cam does a great job of connecting with everybody. He’s in the building more than any player on the team, he spends a lot of time talking and connecting and building relationships with those people. He has tremendous leadership.”"
Even with this, somehow around the NFL, people see Newton as this selfish, pompous, lazy, and arrogant person who is the antithesis of a leader.
Sure, he can be a bit of a showboat at times. But this does not affect his ability as a leader.
It shows that Newton wants to enjoy football while he can still play it. He still gives everything, and he leaves it on the field. Not many people, if any, are going to outwork the signal-caller in the weight room, film room, or football field.
Many fans around the NFL may not realize this, but Newton gives back a tremendous amount of effort, resources, and most importantly, love to the community.
He hosts a thanksgiving jam for less fortunate families every year. He feeds them and donates his resources towards good causes.
The Auburn product also has his non-profit foundation called the Cam Newton Foundation, which raises money for underprivileged kids in school. He also stopped by the Community School of Davidson to play football with the kids in 2016.
Newton loves helping and spreading love to his communities. He is a bright spot for many people off the football field. Signing him back would bring a true captain to the quarterback position and it would re-add a lot to the Charlotte area.
