4 solid landing spots for Jermaine Carter in 2022 free agency

Minnesota Vikings
There wouldn’t be much chance of Jermaine Carter beating out Eric Kendricks or Jordan Hicks to a starting job with the Minnesota Vikings. But one could argue that he represents an upgrade on anything they currently have as backups.
It’s also worth remembering that Kendricks has missed time over the last two seasons. The Vikings are also moving to a 3-4 defensive scheme following their change in staff, so the more options Minnesota has in this area of the field, the better.
The Vikings haven’t really altered their roster all that much despite a complete shift in ethos with a new head coach and general manager on board. This indicates they remain in win-now mode and with Davante Adams now out of the NFC North, their chances of postseason football following a two-year absence cannot be ruled out.
Carter does have his faults, there’s no getting away from that. But the Vikings wouldn’t necessarily ask him to do all that much given they already have two hugely productive players manning the interior.
Playing the 3-4 scheme is something Carter’s done before with the Carolina Panthers, so the transition should be smooth. However, Minnesota has just $881,969 in spare cap space right now, so those in power might not be able to afford the player even if there was a mutual interest.
