Evan Neal scouting report

- Weight: 334 pounds
- Arm length: 34 inches
- 2021 PFF grade: 85.8
It’s hard not to be impressed by Evan Neal. This counts both in terms of size and the ability to use every physical attribute to his advantage on the football field.
Neal is a mammoth offensive tackle who plays with an athleticism that is absolutely extraordinary for a man his size. His power at the point of attack is remarkable and the lineman also comes with some enticing footwork that keeps opposing pass-rushers at bay more often than not.
Although he still learning how to play the position, Neal grew in stature with every passing game at Alabama in 2021. Although there were some slight moments of trouble, he is explosive out of his stance and has sufficient agility to get himself out of trouble when it arrives.
Even though there is room to grow as a run blocker, Neal sometimes relies more on his supreme athletic traits rather than technique. This won’t fly against NFL-caliber defensive linemen and is something that needs to improve in the pros.
As strange as it sounds, Neal’s height works against him at times. Especially in short-yardage situations or against speedier players flying off the edge.
With that being said, Neal is an astonishing talent that is going to be highly coveted by NFL teams in the top-10. His pro day will be another chance to boost stock after not participating much at the NFL Scouting Combine, so the Panthers should be monitoring his progress extremely closely.
