How would Evan Neal fit on the Carolina Panthers?

  • Week 1 starting left tackle

If Evan Neal somehow fell to the Carolina Panthers at No. 6 overall, they would be wise to hand in their card in double-quick time. This is an instant problem-solver at a position that’s been crying out for an upgrade for almost a decade, so spurning the chance to take the Alabama product if available dispute the obvious quarterback conundrum is a massive call to make.

Neal would be a Day 1 starter for the Panthers and the bookend that right tackle Taylor Moton has been missing. Considering the other players acquired by the organization this offseason, his presence could see them go from being among the worst to one of the most productive in the blink of an eye.

Picture this for Carolina’s offensive line next season if Neal did slip into their laps:

  • LT- Evan Neal
  • LG – Brady Christensen
  • C – Bradley Bozeman
  • RG – Austin Corbett
  • RT – Taylor Moton

Although it means three new starters, the talent level compared to 2021 is night and day. Obviously, getting the right man under center with Sam Darnold set for the scrapheap is absolutely vital, but fixing the trenches was an equally great need for Carolina this offseason.

It’s going to take a brave general manager elsewhere to pass on Neal. But it’s worth remembering that Penei Sewell made it all the way down to the Detroit Lions at No. 7 last year, so it cannot be ruled out entirely.
