Carolina Panthers did not go in force
This was probably the most glaring takeaway as far as the Carolina Panthers are concerned. Although they were reportedly encouraged by Desmond Ridder at the NFL Scouting Combine, it wasn’t enough for the likes of Matt Rhule, Scott Fitterer, or Ben McAdoo to attend his pro day.
Now, it’s worth remembering that the Panthers have had a long week of quarterback evaluations. Considering that Ridder is not expected to enter the top-10 discussion, they probably decided to let other trusted front office figures take the lead and rely on the film when it comes to the
Pat Stewart, Jeff Morrow, and Joel Patten were Carolina’s representatives at the pro day, which also featured top prospects at other positions that might be of interest. However, the key men decided to spurn the event, which leads fans to draw their own conclusions.
Ridder would be wise to focus on what he can control. Somebody is going to take a chance on him, so all the signal-caller can do is put in the work and let the chips fall where they may.
It’s hard to look at Fitterer, Rhule, and McAdoo’s absence from Ridder’s pro day as an encouraging sign. All three were front and center for Kenny Pickett, Malik Willis, and Matt Corral’s sessions this week, who should all be taken before the Cincinnati product comes off the board.
