Haason Reddick – Former Carolina Panthers OLB

There was a sense of optimism that the Carolina Panthers could keep Haason Reddick around beyond his one-year deal. But general manager Scott Fitterer’s comments at the NFL Scouting Combine indicating that the outside linebacker would be allowed to test the market meant that he was likely to move elsewhere on a megabucks deal.

Within hours of the legal tampering getting underway, Reddick signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, which represents a homecoming for the former first-round pick. He will now look to build on the 23.5 sacks attained over the last two seasons and it leaves the Panthers with a significant hole to fill coming off the edge.

Reddick was wise to bet on himself last offseason in the financial climate. The Temple product was an absolute revelation in 2021 and is more than deserving of a long-term commitment, even if that, unfortunately, didn’t come from Carolina’s front office.

Replacing someone who gained double-digit sacks is a tall order. The Panthers are hoping Yetur Gross-Matos makes strides in Year 3 of his professional career and Marquis Haynes is another that might benefit from increased playing time next season.
