3 teams that could trade above the Carolina Panthers for top QB prospect

Pittsburgh Steelers could trade above the Carolina Panthers
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that the Pittsburgh Steelers might be seriously considering a quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft. Head coach Mike Tomlin has been dining with top prospects over the last week and was almost as prominent throughout as the Carolina Panthers were at various locations across the country.
This is a period of transition for the Steelers. Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement was expected given his steep drop-off in production, but that does not detract from what a gaping hole he leaves in the organization after manning the plate for almost two decades.
Pittsburgh signed Mitchell Trubisky early in free agency on a pretty respectable deal. He’ll get the chance to fill the void left by Roethlisberger, but that won’t prevent Tomlin from bringing in someone like Malik Willis if he feels the prospect can develop into a productive NFL starter.
This is going to take the boldest of moves from the Steelers, who currently sit at No. 20 overall in the first round. It will be difficult and take a substantial amount of resources, but Pittsburgh has long been a team that retools rather than rebuilds and if this proves to be the case once again, then a step up the board is not entirely out of the question.
Much like the situation with the Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh could also decide to wait it out with Trubisky and go after a franchise signal-caller next year given the wealth of options set to declare.
