Seattle Seahawks could trade above the Carolina Panthers
The long-standing and successful relationship between Russell Wilson and Pete Carroll finally came to a conclusion this offseason when the signal-caller was traded to the Denver Broncos in a bombshell move that came just hours after Aaron Rodgers committed his immediate future to the Green Bay Packers.
According to Jonathan Alexander of the Charlotte Observer, the Carolina Panthers made a call to the Seattle Seahawks regarding Wilson, who was unwilling to waive his no-trade clause for anybody other than Denver. This leaves Carroll short of a dynamic quarterback heading into a crucial 2022 campaign for the head coach, although the organization is reportedly high on Drew Lock for some unbeknown reason.
Lock hasn’t shown much to suggest he can become a starting-caliber NFL player at the position. Seattle now owns the No. 9 overall selection thanks to the Wilson trade, so they could be in prime position to trade up and get their quarterback of the future depending on how the board plays out.
If the Detroit Lions take Malik Willis, then it will completely shift the landscape and might make a team panic for fear of missing out. The longer it goes, the more likely it is that Evan Neal or Ikem Ekwonu will fall down to No. 6, which would arguably be the dream scenario for the Panthers looking at the bigger picture.
Only time will tell as to how this all plays out. But it is going to be absolutely fascinating to witness and there might be a few twists and turns to come before the all-important draft weekend arrives.
