Cam Newton is reportedly considering multiple offers, and the former Carolina Panthers quarterback is absolutely right to bide his time.

It was the story of the 2021 season where the Carolina Panthers were concerned. Cam Newton’s sensational return to the organization before their Week 10 win at the Arizona Cardinals brought a level of electricity and hope not seen within the team’s fanbase for quite some time, which was a testament to how much he loves the franchise and just how much the team has missed having a quarterback that can inspire everyone around them.

Newton was probably fully aware of the challenges that came with arriving so late in the day. There was no time to learn the playbook and things were made even more complicated by offensive coordinator Joe Brady being fired midway through the bye week.

Things didn’t go according to plan for Newton in terms of results or production. Matt Rhule went back to Sam Darnold once the former USC star was healthy enough and this saw the 2015 NFL MVP spend the final few games watching from the sidelines as the Panthers ended the campaign in an extremely disappointing fashion.

What comes next for Newton is unclear. The Panthers have not entirely ruled out the possibility of bringing the signal-caller back, but Carolina’s general manager Scott Fitterer and Rhule both stated that the situation has to be right for all parties involved.

Considering how long Newton was looking for work after his release from the New England Patriots last year, it seems unlikely that other teams will be queueing around the block to attain his services.

However, a recent statement from Newton could indicate he is willing to bide his time for the right opportunity.
