What options do the Carolina Panthers have for their starting quarterback in 2022, and which one would give them the best chance to progress?

It’s been a productive offseason for the Carolina Panthers so far. The offensive line has been given a major boost, the linebacker corps looks improved, and some other notable reinforcements were acquired within needy positional groups that leave some hope for progression in 2022.

However, there are two major areas that must be addressed with conviction between now and when competitive action resumes. Otherwise, all this hard work will be for nothing.

The Panthers need to find themselves an elite left tackle at some stage. Perhaps more importantly, the organization also needs to find a solution at the quarterback position by any means necessary.

With this in mind, we took a look at and ranked nine potential starting quarterbacks for the Panthers next season.

P.J. Walker – Carolina Panthers QB

The Carolina Panthers brought back P.J. Walker on a team-friendly deal. But this does not mean the signal-caller is guaranteed a roster spot when the 2022 campaign rolls around.

Walker might have a decent record in a starting role. But he is a turnover waiting to happen and does appear limited when it comes to the crunch.

The former XFL MVP candidate is closely linked to Matt Rhule from their time together at Temple, which is something that has given him perhaps more leeway than most. However, this is his final chance to stake a claim and if the Panthers are hoping Walker can take some substantial strides this offseason and perhaps push for the starting job, they’ll be out of luck.
