Ranking the 9 potential Carolina Panthers starting QB options in 2022

Carolina Panthers could trade for Jimmy Garoppolo
Going down the trade route is possibly the best way to get an immediate upturn in production. It might cost the Carolina Panthers some extra draft capital, but nothing compared to what they were willing to sacrifice in their long-standing pursuit of Deshaun Watson.
Obviously, the signal-callers that might be on the block don’t hold a candle to Watson in terms of athletic ability. But if the Panthers want to make improvements next season, then it’s something they should consider depending on the compensation.
Jimmy Garoppolo might not be a lost cause for the San Francisco 49ers in 2022 despite the team giving up the earth to trade up for Trey Lance during the 2021 NFL Draft. The veteran is solid enough, but there are some limitations even though he can make a difference if an offensive scheme plays to his strengths.
Carolina is planning to go with a downhill running attack next season, which would suit Garoppolo. There is the small matter of what the Niners want in return and the cap issues to consider, but the former second-round pick out of Eastern Illinois is a proven winner that also has a Super Bowl appearance under his belt.
This would be underwhelming, in all honesty. Garoppolo can get a team so far, but when tasked with winning a game by himself, it’s an scenario where he often falls short.
