Which veteran Carolina Panthers players were the team right to move on from during a busy offseason period so far?

We are now well into the free agency period and the Carolina Panthers have done a nice job where recruitment is concerned. Some top performers such as DaQuan Jones and Haason Reddick departed the organization, but those in power brought in some high-quality veterans that haven’t cost the earth, with the team having the league’s most salary-cap space available heading into the 2022 NFL Draft.

That might change before the draft process finally gets underway. The Panthers still have a glaring need at left tackle and there are also obvious complications that could emerge if the franchise decides to move forward with Sam Darnold once again in 2022.

Carolina’s roster looks a little better now than it did once the previous campaign concluded if you take out these two key positional groups. Something that could bring an opportunity for genuine progress next time around if they get their remaining moves absolutely correct.

Without further ado, here are four former Panthers veterans that the team was right to move on from this offseason.

John Miller – Former Carolina Panthers OG

This was an absolute no-brainer after John Miller’s serious lack of consistency in 2021. The offensive lineman was a constant source of frustration throughout the campaign and there appeared to be a real lackluster attitude to the player’s approach if his “sacks happen” statement that infuriated fans is any indication.

Miller’s two years on the Carolina Panthers won’t be remembered fondly. The front office acquired Super Bowl winner Austin Corbett as their new right guard, which is set to be the biggest of upgrades and something the protection hasn’t had at that particular spot since Trai Turner was at the peak of his powers.

As for Miller, he is still looking for a new home. It remains to be seen whether or not he will find one.
