What potential draft weekend disasters will the Carolina Panthers be hoping to avoid during a hugely important few days for the franchise?

Now that the pro day circuit has come to an end, the Carolina Panthers are beginning to formulate their big board ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft. There is plenty on the line for those in power throughout the weekend and if they can hit on almost every decision, the team’s outlook will look much more promising next season.

This process involves discussions about prospects, positions of need, potential trade scenarios, and even looking at the top five to see what could happen before Carolina goes on the clock at No. 6 overall. It’s their only selection in the opening 136 picks as it stands, so absolutely nothing can be ruled out.

Things might not have gone according to plan over the last two seasons, but the Panthers have put two solid drafts together under Matt Rhule. Players like Jaycee Horn, Derrick Brown, Yetur Gross-Matos, and Jeremy Chinn have been taken at the top end and Carolina has also managed to acquire some useful contributors from lower down the pecking order, too.

Something similar this time around could be another boost to a roster that does look better from the one that concluded the 2021 campaign in such disappointing fashion. Although there is still the obvious complication with Sam Darnold at quarterback to contend with that could jeoopardize their chances significantly.

Everything needs to go Carolina’s way over the pivotal process. Here are three potential disasters the Panthers will be hoping to avoid during the 2022 draft.
