What are some important pros and cons surrounding the Carolina Panthers potentially selecting a quarterback prospect during the 2022 NFL Draft?

One would have to be living under a rock to ignore the quarterback problems surrounding the Carolina Panthers since Matt Rhule took over as head coach. The Teddy Bridgewater experiment was terminated after just one season and trading for Sam Darnold was another disaster that leaves the organization going back to the drawing board.

The Panthers tried to secure Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson to no avail. Unless they go down the trade avenue for someone else or look into the dwindling pool of free agents, then the 2022 NFL Draft is another possibility with only Darnold and P.J. Walker on the roster currently.

This is a divisive subject among the team’s loyal fanbase on social media. The benefits are there for all to see, but this is not the usual method almost halfway through Rhule’s seven-year process.

There is a significant amount of urgency regarding the Panthers and their need to make some strides in 2022. Three successive five-win seasons have seen some real disillusionment emerge amongst supporters, who are becoming increasingly disconnected from the franchise and unless this changes sooner rather than later, it could make Carolina an afterthought in a city that has the playoff-bound Charlotte Hornets and a new Major League Soccer expansion team in the Charlotte FC.

It’s a major dilemma for the Panthers. Here are four pros and cons to Carolina selecting a quarterback during the 2022 draft.
