Carolina Panthers could select Dameon Pierce (Florida)

Measurements:

  • Height: 5-foot-10 | Weight: 218 pounds

2021 Stats:

  • 574 rushing yards (5.7 YPC)
  • 13 touchdowns
  • 216 receiving yards (19 receptions)
  • 3 receiving touchdowns
  • 92.0 PFF grade

Dameon Pierce only generated more than 100 carries in two out of his four seasons with the Florida Gators, but that didn’t stop the running back from making a significant impression. His physical style of play and ability in the red zone has seen some real interest during the evaluation process, which could lead the player to be among the first prospects taken at the position when it’s all said and done.

Pierce is a power runner that has no trouble gaining hard yards in between the tackles. His athletic ability is absolutely off the charts and something that stood out like a sore thumb at the 2022 Senior Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine to further enhance his stock.

Another area that Pierce deserves recognition for is blocking. He has a firm base in pass-protection situations and also comes with high football intelligence to recognize blitz pickups when they come flying in his face.

The Carolina Panthers are deploying a downhill running attack moving forward, which Pierce looks best suited at the next level. He is also very reliable in the passing game and boasts enough speed to gain big yardage – although this isn’t elite by any stretch.

If Pierce can improve his decisiveness in the pros, someone is going to have a tremendous player on their hands.
