Which defensive tackles could the Carolina Panthers consider selecting in the 2022 NFL Draft?

Matt Rhule and the Carolina Panthers have made it clear over the past two years that their defense will be built through the defensive line. The selections of Derrick Brown, Bravvion Roy, and Daviyon Nixon since the head coach took over are proof of that. These three, alongside the recently signed Matthew Ioannidis, create a unit with plenty of talent heading into the 2022 campaign.

The best defenses in the NFL have either a star-studded interior line or one that can comfortably roll 4-6 players deep in any given series. Brown and Ioannidis are good players, and both Nixon and Roy have proven themselves as quality depth players.

In the former Iowa star’s case, there could be an opportunity to make a significant impact en route to becoming a potential starter. This is providing that Nixon suffers no lingering effects from the injury that ended his rookie season early last time around.

Nevertheless, there is always room for improved options, especially on the defensive front. It’s also worth remembering that one of the Panthers‘ strengths under Ron Rivera defensively was multiple options that could produce consistently across the front seven.

Historically, there are usually high-value defensive tackle prospects later in the draft. This year’s batch of college recruits does not look any different.

With this in mind, here are seven defensive tackles the Panthers could potentially select in 2022.
