Panthers 2022 draft scouting report: No love for Carson Strong?
By Dean Jones
The Carolina Panthers are in desperate need of quarterback help, but why are they reportedly overlooking 2022 NFL Draft prospect Carson Strong?
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, then the quarterback problems surrounding the Carolina Panthers should be evident. Teddy Bridgewater’s time with the franchise lasted just one season and the trade for Sam Darnold simply didn’t come with any sort of encouragement regarding his long-term prospects.
After missing out on Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson this offseason, the Panthers are running out of options under center. Darnold might still be around with his $18.85 million fully guaranteed contract, but finding a potential upgrade is something Carolina has to do before the 2022 season gets underway.
They are taking a keen interest in some of the top quarterback prospects entering the league this year. It might not be the most lauded class, but the Panthers are desperate for assistance and unless they move for Baker Mayfield or Jimmy Garoppolo, this might be the most likely outcome.
Despite the Panthers doing their due diligence on most signal-callers, they don’t seem to be taking much notice of Carson Strong. The Nevada product put up some lofty numbers in 2021 and further enhanced his stock with an impressive showcase of throwing ability at the Senior Bowl in front of scouts and senior league personnel.
Strong has more upside than most in this group. Even if the Panthers don’t appear to be all that keen on drafting the player.
We took look at just why that might be in a special scouting report on Strong.
