The Carolina Panthers brought in Tariq Woolen for a visit recently, but is the physically gifted cornerback a realistic option in the 2022 NFL Draft?

Looking at the cornerback unit for the Carolina Panthers, it doesn’t appear to be the biggest of needs heading into the 2022 NFL Draft. This is a group with some young stars who could make great strides and Donte Jackson re-signing in free agency gives them a solid veteran presence to lean on next season and beyond.

It doesn’t appear as if Stephon Gilmore will be returning. The All-Pro recently visited with the Indianapolis Colts and there is also talk of the Super Bowl-champion Los Angeles Rams showing interest, a situation that would pair the South Carolina product with Jalen Ramsey.

The Panthers are hoping there will be no further complications on the health front for Jaycee Horn, who looked like a potential shutdown player at the position before breaking his foot in their Week 3 win at the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football.

CJ Henderson, Keith Taylor, Stantley Thomas-Oliver III, and the returning Troy Pride Jr. also look to play some part. But the Panthers might also strengthen their options with a prospect from what appears to be a pretty deep draft class.

According to multiple reports that were confirmed on the player’s Instagram, the Panthers brought in Tariq Woolen for a visit to get a broader perspective of what he could potentially bring to the franchise.  The UTSA product has lit up the evaluation process with exceptional testing and at least from a physical standpoint, has all the makings of a successful pro at the next level.

With this in mind, we put on the film and took a deeper dive into Woolen and what role he might play for the Panthers in this scenario.
