Considering Jordan Davis is one of the bulkier prospects entering the NFL this year, his athleticism is absolutely jaw-dropping. The defensive tackle displayed this to full effect during testing en route to a perfect Relative Athletic Score of 10.00 and, more importantly, this is also something that comes across on film.
Davis was the anchor for a Georgia defense that conquered all in 2021. He finished ninth in the Heisman Trophy voting and was almost impossible to block without double or sometimes even triple teams.
One of Davis’ biggest strengths is tackling. His hands are heavy and he reacts extremely well for a man his size to locate the ball carrier early and often on running downs.
His speed is absolutely extraordinary and Davis is never shifted from the block when he has the advantage. The prospect also comes with useful agility and comes with the potential to operate either in a 4-3 defense or as a 3-4 nose tackle with such a skill set.
The one main problem where Davis is concerned was exposed against Alabama in the SEC Championship game. Leaving him out on the field in a no-huddle offense significantly limited the player’s ability to make his presence felt, which won’t have gone unnoticed by NFL teams and could be utilized unless the player improves his conditioning.
Outside of that, there aren’t really any holes. Davis has everything the Carolina Panthers have sought in their college defenders since making this their primary focus, but whether they do the same this time around is debatable.
