Which Carolina Panthers players should be considered for early contract extensions at some point during the offseason period or the 2022 campaign?

The Carolina Panthers have the league’s most salary-cap space available after contract restructures, early releases, and free-agent signings that haven’t broken the bank. Although this is likely to change before the 2022 season, there is now some real flexibility to make further improvements before and during the upcoming campaign.

What transpires during the draft will have significant repercussions. If the Panthers can emerge from the process with a franchise left tackle and a quarterback either via trade or the college ranks, the better their chances for success are going to be in Year 3 under head coach Matt Rhule.

Carolina is fortunate to have one of the best cap managers in the business, which always helps. Samir Suleiman looks like a future general manager in the making and if certain players impress, then the Panthers could contemplate giving them financial security ahead of time.

With this in mind, here are four Panthers players who could get early contract extensions in 2022.

Kenny Robinson now has some momentum for the first time in his NFL career. The safety became a core special teams player and made an impact on the defensive rotation over the second half of 2022, which could see more in the way of activity this time around if he continues improving all areas of his game.

Robinson faces a monumental offseason in Carolina. If he can carry on building slowly and take advantage of chances when they arrive, then it would be a surprise if he wasn’t more involved next season.

Should Robinson perform well above expectations – which isn’t entirely out of the question – then a new contract might be offered.
