Carolina Panthers could trade into Day 2

As stated previously, the Carolina Panthers are currently without any Day 2 selections after trading for Sam Darnold and C.J. Henderson. Although the quarterback’s arrival blew up in their faces, the jury is still out on the cornerback after the coaching staff took their time with the former first-round pick.

Scott Fitterer is not one to sit on his hands during the draft. That’s why there is almost no chance Carolina doesn’t at least try to gain some additional resources at some stage.

Trading down from No. 6 is an obvious option. But there is also the prospect of Carolina moving up into the second or third rounds if a player they really like becomes available.

This would involve giving up some capital this year and probably next. However, there is a real sense of urgency to win now in Year 3 of Matt Rhule’s reign and it could force a gamble or two along the way as a result.

Time is of the essence after two failed seasons. Fans are getting pretty sick and tired of the distinct lack of progress on the field and giving up future assets in pursuit of significantly improving their aspirations in 2022 should absolutely be considered if the right opportunity comes along.

Anything less than a home-run draft would cause problems. So the pressure is well and truly on to make the correct decisions.
