Which interior offensive linemen could the Carolina Panthers select to add pieces to an already improved unit in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft?

The interior offensive line was always going to be a position of importance for the Carolina Panthers following the 2021 season. Thanks in no small part to the play from the likes of Pat Elflein, Dennis Daley, Matt Paradis, and John Miller becoming a real cause for concern.

Simple stunts from defensive linemen were causing Panthers linemen to be blocking each other at times. This left whoever was under center to be running for their life most Sundays.

And who can forget the infamous “sacks happen” comment by Miller?

Laughable. Further proof of the distinct lack of awareness and accountability within the locker room.

The Panthers deserve credit for the way they have invested in this unit throughout the offseason. And the most important move was possibly the change of coach.

Pat Meyer was shown the door and former Green Bay Packers stalwart James Campen was hired, who has a talent for turning late-round selections into Pro Bowlers. As the Panthers don’t have a second pick until No. 137, this could be key if Carolina decided to take a chance in the later rounds.

The editions the Panthers have made this offseason were very good.

Firstly we saw Super Bowl winner Austin Corbett arrive from the Los Angeles Rams on a three-year, $26.25 million deal. The former second-round selection out of Nevada has started 41 games during his four years in the league and will be an immediate starter at right guard, forming a solid pairing with tackle Taylor Moton.

The move that raised a few eyebrows was the pickup of Bradley Bozeman. The two-time national champion at Alabama had been a starter with the Baltimore Ravens since 2019 and the Panthers picked him up incredibly cheaply – a deal worth $2.8 million with incentives.

If a tackle is taken at No. 6, one suspects Brady Christensen is slid across to left guard, leaving Bozeman to battle Pat Elfein for the starting center spot.

While Elflein was a serviceable replacement for Paradis when he went down injured in 2021, it would be a huge surprise if Bozeman didn’t win this particular battle.

However, as we saw last season, injuries can decimate a line. The Panthers suffered constant issues in 2021, meaning they started 13 different offensive line combinations – hardly a recipe for success.
