What were some big takeaways from Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo’s first appearance in front of the media since his appointment?

Although Matt Rhule remains head coach of the Carolina Panthers despite another five-win campaign in 2021, it’s clear there was a demand for a complete shift within his coaching staff. Multiple key figures were removed from the equation and replaced by experienced figures with legitimate and sustained experience working at some high-level NFL franchises.

Of course, Joe Brady was fired as the team’s offensive coordinator midway through the bye week. A necessary scapegoat when all around Rhule was crumbling at just the wrong time.

Carolina replaced Brady with Ben McAdoo, who is another Tom Coughlin disciple and has enjoyed plenty of success running offenses throughout his time in the league.

This brings an added sense of fascination to how the Panthers are going to approach their game plan next time around. McAdoo will also lend a key voice to the team’s draft plans based on his strong reputation for analyzing college quarterbacks.

Without further ado, what were the four big talking points from McAdoo’s first media availability of the offseason period?

Ben McAdoo keen on a team-first draft approach

Although Ben McAdoo was not giving too much away regarding the Carolina Panthers’ draft plans, he did say that he was keen for those in power to do whatever is best for the organization ahead of a crucial 2022 campaign.

The need for a premier offensive tackle on the blindside and a potential upgrade on Sam Darnold is obvious. However, McAdoo seems fine with going with a completely different approach, too.

We won’t have to wait much longer to find out what direction the Panthers will go. One also suspects McAdoo’s opinion is going to play a pivotal part in the process.
