5 Carolina Panthers with most to gain from a positive 2022 draft
By Dean Jones
Which Carolina Panthers have the most to gain from a positive draft weekend for the organization in 2022?
To say there is a lot at stake for the Carolina Panthers over the next week would be understating things slightly. The 2022 NFL Draft is an important time for the organization to strengthen problem positions in the short-term while also putting the right pieces in place that can become foundations for sustained success over time.
It’s a complex riddle. One that’s made more difficult by the fact Carolina doesn’t possess a pick until No. 137 after they make their choice at No. 6 overall.
This only adds to the immense intrigue surrounding the Panthers this year. Those in power have left no stone unturned throughout the evaluations process and kept all possible options open – something else that could bear fruit when it’s all said and done.
Without further ado, here are five Panthers who stand to benefit most from a strong draft in 2022.
Panther No. 1
Ben McAdoo – Carolina Panthers OC
Ben McAdoo is getting another shot at primary play-calling responsibilities after some time on the fringes after he was fired as head coach of the New York Giants. For all his faults in the top job at MetLife Stadium, there is plenty to like about his chances of making better use of some fantastic weapons on the Carolina Panthers.
Having a good draft will benefit McAdoo more than most. Especially if the Panthers come out of the weekend with a premier left tackle and a quarterback upgrade on Sam Darnold.
McAdoo’s strong reputation for analyzing college talent will play an integral role in proceedings. But he will be hoping that those in positions of shot-calling power make the correct choices.
