Which college prospects with alpha traits could the Carolina Panthers look to get their hands on during the 2022 NFL Draft?
Some important and potentially franchise-altering decisions are looming for the Carolina Panthers. With the evaluation process now coming to a conclusion, influential individuals within the organization are now coming up with shortlists and contingencies ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft, which is going to be something not to miss given its unpredictability.
General manager Scott Fitterer left a positive impression from his first draft with the Panthers. However, achieving the same this time around will be a tough task with no second or third-round selections to speak of at the present moment.
Obviously, that could change. But the No. 6 overall selection is also an opportunity for Carolina to rectify a real problem area such as left tackle or an upgrade at quarterback.
There are multiple options for the Panthers. Here are five potential alphas they could end up taking at various stages of the 2022 draft.
Prospect No. 1
Carolina Panthers could draft Darian Kinnard
- Offensive Line | Kentucky
If the top-three offensive tackles come off the board by No. 6 overall, it would be a disaster for the Carolina Panthers. One that would undoubtedly see them explore a potential trade-down scenario to acquire additional draft capital for Day 2.
If this scenario comes to fruition, then it might be worth the Panthers considering someone like Darian Kinnard. The versatile offensive lineman is a brute force wherever he lines up, with the prospect boasting plenty of experience on the blindside as well as the interior to further enhance his stock.
Much will depend on where teams perceive him to fit best at the next level. But Kinnard’s demeanor and boundless confidence should ensure his transition will be smooth.
