4 key steps to a perfect Carolina Panthers draft in 2022
By Dean Jones
What steps should the Carolina Panthers follow in pursuit of securing the perfect 2022 NFL Draft to boost their chances of progression?
The Carolina Panthers have a lot on the line as they get ready for the 2022 NFL Draft. This has the potential to define the Matt Rhule era depending on which selections the organization makes, which could really go either way despite a strong period of recruitment during free agency.
Rhule has a significant amount of pressure on his shoulders after accumulating just 10 wins over the last two seasons. The Panthers have a number of big-time needs and only one pick in the first 136 this year, so it’s going to take some creativity to get the right pieces in place ahead of OTAs and training camp.
It’s been one of the more exhausting draft processes, with the fanbase split on what they feel is best for Carolina. Influential figures within the franchise have left no stone unturned during the assessment stage, but it’s been a closed book as the team keeps almost all available options on the table.
We won’t have to wait much longer to find out with just one day to go. Here are four steps to the Panthers securing the perfect draft in 2022.
Step No. 1
Carolina Panthers must react with conviction
This is one of the most unpredictable drafts in recent memory. There is no consensus No. 1 overall selection thanks to the lack of quarterback quality, which means the Carolina Panthers need to plan for everything and anything when the time comes.
They will have their preferred prospects and it would be a surprise to not see one of them on the board at No. 6 overall. However, reacting quickly and with conviction to an ever-changing situation throughout the draft is the best way the Panthers can accomplish their goals.
Scott Fitterer left an enormous impression in this regard in 2021. Something that needs to continue in no uncertain terms.
