Panthers Draft 2022: OT secured in full 32-team first round mock draft

Los Angeles Chargers select Devonte Wyatt
- Defensive Tackle | Georgia
If the Los Angeles Chargers can nail their draft this year, then hopes will increase for a true breakout campaign for a team that is loaded with talent. The AFC West will be a tough division to emerge from in 2022, so adding a premier defensive tackle could be the best way to disrupt things against some top-tier offensive talent.
Devonte Wyatt is a brute force that played a significant role in Georgia’s national championship triumph. He can become a devastating figure against the run and also has enough quick-twitch attributes to impact pass-rushing situations.
Philadelphia Eagles select Trent McDuffie
- Cornerback | Washington
The Philadelphia Eagles select a cornerback after taking a wide receiver earlier in the draft. This is arguably the best-case scenario for the organization and Trent McDuffie is a player that can make a smooth transition given the form he displayed in college.
McDuffie has the tools needed to become an island cornerback with a little more refinement. His speed and fluidity should help extinguish some rookie jitters normally associated with the position in a similar way Jaycee Horn accomplished with the Carolina Panthers before his season was cut short through injury.
New Orleans Saints select Trevor Penning
- Offensive Tackle | Northern Iowa
Losing Terron Armstead in free agency was a necessary evil given how tight things were financially for the New Orleans Saints. Although Trevor Penning has some faults, his high athletic traits mean he could become a productive left tackle providing he becomes a little more disciplined.
Penning caught national media attention for the way he approached drills during the 2022 Senor Bowl. But his high stance and suspect hand placement need to be eradicated at the earliest possible opportunity.
