4 takeaways from Panthers owner David Tepper’s first presser since 2020

What were the four biggest takeaways from Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper’s pre-draft press conference?
After being silent with the media since December 2020, Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper finally spoke out on Wednesday and provided an update on a multitude of topics.
Tepper hadn’t spoken since before his Charlotte FC soccer team began to play, and two losing seasons were in the books by the Panthers. He has also been quiet throughout the Rock Hill facility project that was terminated.
Despite back-to-back five-win seasons, no drastic changes have been made in Carolina and the team is still searching for its franchise quarterback. Third-year head coach Matt Rhule has received plenty of criticism, but he will be getting one more year to try and turn things around.
The soccer team’s bright start is just about the only calm thing to have taken place under Tepper’s ownership in Charlotte recently. Even with all the turmoil that’s surrounded the billionaire since he took over as Panthers owner in 2018, it was surprising that he hadn’t even spoken in more than 15 months.
That silence has ended.
But there are still plenty of questions that remain.
With this in mind, here are some of the biggest observations that were taken from Tepper’s press conference.
