4 takeaways from Panthers owner David Tepper’s first presser since 2020

David Tepper doesn’t like losing but reiterates that building the Carolina Panthers is a process
When David Tepper arrived on the scene a few years ago, he seemed set on getting the Carolina Panthers to the promised land as quickly as he could.
After not making the playoffs once since his arrival, Tepper still doesn’t like losing but it seems his opinion on how long it’ll take might have changed.
Five years feels like a century in the NFL and even though Tepper continuously said a “foundation” is in place, the team hasn’t provided any type of positive results.
"“I’ve said it, ‘five years, five years, five years’ from the time Coach Rhule was hired, it’s just building that foundation, having patience to build that foundation, trying to get fans to have patience for that foundation to have sustained winning. If we have an expectation for sustained winning we have to build it. We have to have patience. I want to win now, but I know you still have to have a foundation.”"
This is something Tepper was pretty much expected to say. But unless things change during the 2022 season, it might leave these plans for progression in tatters.
That is a far cry statement from what he said in 2018. But if it means the Panthers will build a bit smarter, that’s good, right?
