8 prospects the Carolina Panthers must consider trading up for on Day 2
By Dean Jones
Which prospects are still available on Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft that the Carolina Panthers could potentially trade up to get?
It was an eventful first-round of the 2022 NFL Draft, which was expected considering how uncertain almost everything was from No. 1 overall all the way down. There was plenty of drama, some surprise selections, and teams making bold moves to put themselves in the best possible position to succeed.
The Carolina Panthers had more questions than most surrounding just what they were going to do at No. 6 overall. Some clear needs were evident and the prospect of trading back was also relatively high, but the organization eventually ended up taking Ikem Ekwonu to potentially fill a long-standing void of consistency left by Jordan Gross eight years ago.
One would think that the Panthers will now sit back and watch things unfold with no second or third-round selections following trades for Sam Darnold and C.J. Henderson last year. However, general manager Scott Fitterer is not a man to normally sit on his hands, so expect the team to make the necessary moves if a prospect they like is sitting there for the taking.
This would probably involve giving up capital in 2023. Something Fitterer stated in his pre-draft presser that he was looking to avoid after sacrificing so much this year to find quick fixes that didn’t really pay off – especially in Darnold’s case.
It’s obviously a fluid situation. But here are five prospects still remaining on Day 2 who the Panthers could potentially trade back up to acquire.
