Carolina Panthers could target Brian Asamoah

  • Linebacker | Oklahoma

The ongoing situation surrounding Damien Wilson following his recent arrest is obviously something the Carolina Panthers will take into account during the 2022 NFL Draft. Nothing has been set in stone regarding discipline as yet, but the organization needs to prepare for every eventuality and that could see a talented prospect coming into the fold at some stage during the selection process.

Taking one lower down the pecking order would obviously not cost them anything. However, if Brian Asamoah was still available towards the end of Day 2, then trading up for minimal compensation could be enough if this is a player they feel can benefit the team in the short and long term.

Asamoah is fast, physical, and represents a dynamic force at the second level that the Panthers have been searching for since Luke Kuechly retired.

Playing alongside seasoned veterans such as Shaq Thompson and Frankie Luvu would also be beneficial for the prospect, who boasts exceptional tackling and leadership skills that should fit in well.

If there was one area where Asamoah needed work, it’s when it comes to flexibility. There is also a size issue to consider despite his physical style of play.

With that being said, if the Panthers feel like Asamoah can develop into their long-term starter, they won’t want to miss out.
