Carolina Panthers could target Matt Corral

  • Quarterback | Ole Miss

As stated previously, the Carolina Panthers have more options available than they probably anticipated after just one quarterback was taken in the first round. Whether this is enough for the organization to take the plunge with a bold move up on Day 2 is debatable, but there might be a little less risk now than reaching for a signal-caller at No. 6 overall.

Jumping up from No. 137 overall up into the second round is unlikely to be cheap. Teams will know full well what Carolina is coming up for and this could lead to the organization being held to ransom.

Much will depend on how the first few selections pan out, but if Matt Corral is still available midway through the second round, then the Panthers could make their play.

Corral has proven SEC production and although a little undersized, seems a good fit in Ben McAdoo’s scheme thanks to his lightning-fast release and accuracy over short-to-intermediate throws.

According to Joe Person of The Athletic, the Panthers were finding it difficult to come to a consensus conclusion surrounding this year’s quarterback class. If this is still the case, then influential figures within the organization must come to a conclusion quickly before taking the next step.
