What moves should the Carolina Panthers now make following a largely impressive 2022 NFL Draft from the organization?
There was so much to like about the way things were approached by the Carolina Panthers during the 2022 NFL Draft. Those in power were calculated, methodical, and when the time came to make their moves – showed conviction to get the right reinforcements from the college ranks.
Carolina’s 2022 draft class is being well perceived across the league and within the media. Much will depend on how certain prospects develop, but this looks to be yet another huge step in the right direction for a franchise that has a lot on the line next season.
Providing the Panthers‘ top-end picks can make their presence felt quickly, then some genuine progress is well within their capabilities in 2022. But expecting Matt Rhule to instantly turn his team into playoff contenders might be pushing things ever so slightly.
There is still work to be done. Here are four moves the Panthers must make following the 2022 draft.
Move No. 1
Carolina Panthers must permanently transition Brady Christensen to LG
There was jubilation in the Carolina Panthers’ draft war room when things went perfectly over the top five selections. Every team went for talented defensive prospects, giving the franchise their choice of offensive tackles and eventually picking the No. 1 player on their board, Ikem Ekwonu.
This might be seen as a blow to Brady Christensen. But if the Panthers begin transitioning the former third-round pick to the left guard position immediately, it would be a shock if he wasn’t starting next to Ekwonu when competitive action begins.
Carolina has prioritized the offensive line this offseason. Despite the new arrivals, Christensen still has a good chance to make an impact from a prominent role.
