Carolina Panthers got Matt Corral without trading down or reaching

Talk about running away with the draft.

The Carolina Panthers were able to get Matt Corral without spending or trading the No. 6 overall selection on a quarterback prospect. That allowed the organization to draft Ikem Ekwonu, who is one of the best, if not the best overall prospect emanating from the college ranks this year.

The overall value Corral brings by being drafted No. 94 is also amazing. Carolina did not pass on any blue-chip prospects to select the competitive and talented quarterback where they did, which should benefit their chances in the short and long term.

Coming into the draft, if you were told that the Panthers would get not only a franchise tackle but also one of the top quarterbacks in the class in the same weekend without selling the farm or a load of capital, you would probably laugh at how ridiculous that sounded.

But this ended up being true.

The duo of Ekwonu and Corral arriving at the Panthers organization in the same draft is thievery. It is something that should not be taken for granted and represents the best-case scenario in no uncertain terms.
