Carolina Panthers should sign Nick Foles

Despite what people think about Nick Foles, he is a solid quarterback with good protection and talented wide receivers to throw the ball to. Based on what the Carolina Panthers managed to do this offseason, he would have both.

The Super Bowl MVP in 2017 is proven to be a good option at quarterback in a small stint. The Panthers would not necessarily need him to start a lot of games, but giving Matt Corral a handful of weeks to game plan, learn to prepare, watch from the sidelines, and break down the film would be massive for his development.

Other quarterback options like Cam Newton, Colin Kaepernick, and Ryan Fitzpatrick are available. But none of them provide complete stability in the locker room or under center if the Panthers ended up removing Sam Darnold completely from the equation.

Newton, as much as he did for the city of Charlotte and the Panthers organization, is past his glory days. And his huge personality may take away from Corral’s ability to learn as a leader.

Fitzpatrick is wildly inconsistent and is also coming off of a season where he was seriously injured. Kaepernick – whatever you may think of him – brings a ton of media attention because of his brand. Something that will probably hurt Corral’s development.

Foles on a one-year deal is a low-risk option that will allow Corral to develop his leadership and quarterback ability without distractions.
