What exciting traits will All-Pro kick returner Andre Roberts bring to the Carolina Panthers following his recent arrival?

It was surprising to see the Carolina Panthers not address the kick return position during the 2022 NFL Draft. However, general manager Scott Fitterer had something else up his sleeve and quickly signed Andre Roberts to a one-year deal worth a reported $1.75 million soon after the selection process came to a conclusion.

This could be another piece of tremendous business by the Panthers without breaking the bank. Roberts has long been regarded as one of the best return specialists in the business, which fills another major need for Carolina heading into the 2022 campaign.

Alex Erickson was sure-handed in the role last season. But there was a real reluctance to bring the football upfield and left the Panthers seeking alternative options once the season came to an end.

At least from the outside looking in, Roberts represents a significant upgrade. There is also the presence of new special teams coordinator Chris Tabor to consider, who has a strong reputation for turning kick returners into Pro Bowlers or All-Pros under his leadership.

There is a growing sense of optimism surrounding the Panthers when competitive action resumes later this year. Putting it all together on the field will be a challenge, but acquiring Roberts could be a critical part of their plans in pursuit of some better field position.

With this in mind, here are three exciting traits that Roberts will be bringing to Carolina in 2022.
