Andre Roberts brings ‘threat to score’ ability to the Carolina Panthers
There are very few kick returners operating across the NFL that can potentially score every time they touch the football. Andre Roberts might not be at the peak of his powers anymore, but that should not detract from what a threat he is if afforded enough space.
Roberts turned out for the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers in 2021, almost reaching the 1,000-yard kick return mark once again and also bringing back a phenomenal 101-yard score to continue his exceptional career as a special team ace.
The player has four career kickoff return touchdowns to his name. Roberts is also averaging 26 yards per kick return, which is outstanding consistency from a player that found his NFL niche pretty quickly.
If the Carolina Panthers can get one more year of outstanding production from Roberts and even another score or two along the way, this represents a high-value signing that could benefit the offense considerably.
Field position will be absolutely essential for the Panthers next season. Especially if they decide to move forward with Matt Corral as their starter early on providing the rookie shows enough during training camp.
Roberts not only comes with consistency in this crucial area, but there might also be an opportunity to add to his touchdown total with some athletic special teamers around him in Carolina.
