Cam Newton could join the Baltimore Ravens

There is ongoing speculation surrounding Lamar Jackson and a new contract with the Baltimore Ravens. The player was obviously far from pleased about the team’s decision to trade away Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown during the 2022 NFL Draft based on his social media posts, which only heightens doubts about the signal-caller’s long-term future with the organization.

In truth, Jackson deserves a big payday and the Ravens would be wise to get this situation resolved at the earliest possible opportunity. Behind the former NFL MVP sits Tyler Huntley, who showed some promise filling in for the Louisville product last season and is still young enough to develop further next season and beyond.

If the Ravens were looking for another option, then Cam Newton looks like a tremendous scheme fit that would blend in well with Jackson’s personality. Baltimore’s run-heavy system is unlikely to alter all that much in 2022, so having the No. 1 overall selection in 2011 to take some of the heat off wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world by any stretch.

The Ravens might be content with what they have right now. But one cannot dismiss the benefits Newton could bring if Jackson was to suffer an injury once again.

This could also alleviate some pressure off Jackson, too. He has shouldered a heavy burden running the football from the moment he joined the team, which would be eased by Newton in specialist situations.
