4 things Matt Corral must do to beat out Sam Darnold in 2022

Matt Corral must develop chemistry
Another thing that will do Matt Corral’s chances of surpassing Sam Darnold on the depth chart the world of good is developing chemistry with his playmakers in the passing game. It would be a huge surprise if the Carolina Panthers didn’t give the rookie plenty of practice reps with the starting unit when the time comes, so making the most of them will be absolutely vital to any immediate success that comes his way.
Everyone will be watching the battle between Darnold and Corral. If the Panthers go into training camp with an open mind about who will start in 2022, then every rep counts when it’s all said and done.
Chemistry is something Darold didn’t really have with most of his wide receivers last time around. Robby Anderson was visibly displeased with the signal-caller on more than one occasion on the sideline and if Joe Person’s report is accurate, then some within the locker room would undoubtedly want a better option under center.
Much will depend on how Corral transitions. The intangibles are all there, but going through progressions more efficiently and relying less on creating yards on the ground would be the best way for the player to go initially.
Carolina is blessed to have some outstanding weapons such as D.J. Moore and Christian McCaffrey. If Corral can develop a good relationship with these individuals quickly, then becoming the starter much sooner than expected cannot be ruled out.
