Ben McAdoo will be asking a lot from his running backs in 2022 as the Carolina Panthers look to finally implement a power, downhill attack. This should be helped considerably by a much improved offensive line, but there is one particular cloud hanging over this positional group that simply has to get better.

That, of course, is Christian McCaffrey‘s health.

There is no doubt that McCaffrey is one of the league’s premier dual-threat weapons when fresh and firing on all cylinders. However, the All-Pro has featured in just 10 games over the last two years and unless this improves, his future with the franchise will be in serious doubt.

Taking some pressure off McCaffrey is absolutely pivotal for the Panthers. Signing D’Onta Foreman should help, with the player proving more than capable of putting up lofty numbers when filling in for Derrick Henry on the Tennessee Titans in 2021.

This should allow the Panthers to keep McCaffrey out of the firing line in short-yardage situations. Foreman’s arrival isn’t the biggest vote of confidence in Chuba Hubbard, who flashed on occasions as a rookie but struggled in the passing game and with contact balance.
