There have been a few departures from last season across the defensive front. Haason Reddick signed for the Philadelphia Eagles after the Carolina Panthers allowed him to test the market, with DaQuan Jones bolting for the Buffalo Bills soon after the legal tampering period began.

This leaves some questions about who will step up and fill the void. Much more will be expected of Brian Burns following his first Pro Bowl campaign and 2022 is also a huge year for Derrick Brown if additional strides are made during the preparation period.

Breakout campaigns could be in the offing for Yetur Gross-Matos and Marquis Haynes with more responsibility on their shoulders. The addition of Matt Ioannidis in free agency is another underrated move that could pay off.

Improvements are also expected from Daviyon Nixon and Phil Hoskins, Bravvion Roy is a solid rotational piece, and the duo of Amare Barno and Joe Jackson could also make an impact as the season progresses.

Reddick’s production, in particular, will be hard to replicate. Judging by Carolina’s current options, it might have to be a collective effort.
