Which Carolina Panthers players could be fighting for their jobs following the team’s six selections during the 2022 NFL Draft?

The Carolina Panthers emerged from the 2022 NFL Draft in better shape than they went into the three-day selection process. That’s all fans can ask for – especially with the limited resources available – but it’s now up to the coaching staff just how much of an impact the next batch of college recruits can make in the short and long term.

Carolina has a lot on the line next season. Tempers will no doubt flare if there are further failings, which might even cost head coach Matt Rhule his job despite the recent vote of confidence given to the former Baylor man by team owner David Tepper.

New arrivals always bring a sense of excitement. For those already on the Panthers roster, it leads to nervousness regarding their overall importance to the organization.

With this in mind, here are six Panthers players who are now fighting for their jobs following the 2022 draft.

Considering that Stantley Thomas-Oliver II was a seventh-round pick in 2020, the Carolina Panthers have actually managed to get some solid production from the cornerback both on the defensive rotation and special teams. However, the team’s decision to select former Baylor speedster Kalon Barnes leaves the Florida International product facing a real fight for valuable reps next season.

Thomas-Oliver has had some nice moments in coverage. But one thing working against the player is how much young talent is situated within Carolina’s cornerback room.

Stephon Gilmore might be gone. However, one could make a case for five or six being ahead of Thomas-Oliver right now, which represents a significant challenge to overcome.
