Carolina Panthers could re-sign Cam Newton

Cam Newton was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2011 and brought immediate excitement, from winning NFL Rookie of the Year and eventually taking the team to the Super Bowl while winning the league’s MVP trophy in 2015.

Newton has had some high highs and some low lows. His best days on the football field might be in the rearview, but the former Auburn stud is still a solid option at the quarterback position.

The iconic figure came onto the scene for the Panthers last year and it seemed as if the whole fan base had a surge of hope. That was erased pretty quickly as Newton and Carolina struggled mightily despite an impressive start that led to an eye-catching Week 10 win at the Arizona Cardinals.

The offensive line was very inconsistent, and Newton did not have much time to adapt to the offense as he had to learn it on the fly.

Newton knows the Panthers more than any of the available players, and he probably makes the most sense as a choice. He’s a great leader and knows exactly what it means to ‘Keep Pounding’.

He is well respected and could be an excellent mentor for Matt Corral. Newton is the best quarterback this franchise has ever seen, and many argue he should get one last chance to lead this team behind a beefed-up offensive line.
