Michael Jordan – Carolina Panthers OG
As stated previously, the Carolina Panthers moved swiftly and with conviction this offseason to bolster their offensive line. This positional group has not been prioritized in recent years, which has led to some subpar performances that played a significant role in their eventual downfall.
The team’s fortunes across the protection leave many reasons to be encouraged in 2022. James Campen joining the fold as Carolina’s new offensive line coach should also be a real asset given his experience and the esteem in which he is held across the league.
For those who underperformed last season, turning things around is absolutely crucial. Michael Jordan fits into this category and the Panthers drafting promising youngster Cade Mays on Day 3 of the 2022 NFL Draft only makes his task to make the roster that much more difficult.
Jordan started off the season brightly once installed into the lineup before regressing considerably. He conceded six sacks and five penalties from 703 snaps to attain a less than stellar 50.7 grade from Pro Football Focus, so there is a lot of work ahead of the player in pursuit of similar involvement next time around.
If Jordan cannot make the strides needed and Mays adjusts well to a professional environment, then Carolina could show him the door or put the Ohio State product back on the practice squad.
