Despite Matt Corral falling so far down the pecking order, everything worked out in the end. This is also a tremendous fit for the quarterback, who’ll be working with some outstanding coaches and playing personnel that will help him feel right at home.

Corral will also get a real opportunity to push Sam Darnold all the way in training camp with a view to potentially starting sooner than anticipated if everything goes well. A lot needs to happen before the Carolina Panthers pull the trigger, so it will be fascinating to see things unfold.

One man that will be working closely with Corral from the outset is Sean Ryan. A man who has been around the block and developed some of the best in the business.

Carolina’s quarterbacks coach has been responsible for progressing the likes of Deshaun Watson and Matthew Stafford throughout his career. Even though Darnold’s flaws were almost unsalvagable, this should not really count against the respected figure in the grand scheme of things.

Ryan will have studied the tape on Corral to decipher just what the signal-caller needs to work on when he gets into the building. Darnold is still lingering around for now, but this should arguably become the coach’s biggest priority if the Panthers want to see a return on their modest investment.
