Ben McAdoo – Carolina Panthers OC

General manager Scott Fitterer revealed during a recent radio interview that the Carolina Panthers selecting Matt Corral was done in large part to the influence of Ben McAdoo. The offensive coordinator felt this was a risk worth taking given the player’s skillset and how he could fit within the system – advice that the team used given his reputation for analyzing college talent and how they might transition to the next level.

McAdoo relies heavily on quick passes over short to intermediate routes with the odd deep shot thrown in for good measure. Corral’s lightning-fast release and solid processing could be integrated well into this scheme, which is something that could finally transform Carolina’s fortunes under center with a little time.

This vote of confidence from McAdoo should be music to Corral’s ears.

The coach gained significant praise from reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers during their time working together. If he can produce similar magic with his new project, the Panthers will have a tremendous player on their hands.

There is a chance that Corral would be elsewhere if it wasn’t for McAdoo. But whatever he sees in the signal-caller needs to be molded into a capable NFL starter that can finally get this team trending in the right direction.

Only time will tell, obviously. And there is a lot on the line for McAdoo now that he is back in a prominent play-calling position.
