At the end of the day, the most important figure behind Matt Corral thriving with the Carolina Panthers is the player himself.
Much has been made about Corral’s slide during the draft. There is nothing the signal-caller can do about that now, so it’s just a case of getting down to business, progressing every day, and demonstrating a willingness to learn under the watchful eye of the team’s coaching staff.
Corral should focus on what he can control and nothing else.
The spotlight will be on in no uncertain terms in the coming weeks. Especially if he picks things up quickly, giving Sam Darnold a fight for the first time in his professional career.
Integrating within the locker room will be another major step in the right direction. There are some big personalities on the Panthers, but if Corral can settle quickly and gradually emerge into the leader we all saw at Ole Miss, the better his chances will be.
If Corral doesn’t work out, then the Panthers can look towards what appears to be an exceptional crop of quarterbacks entering the league in 2023. However, the player’s talent and overall mindset make him one of the more intriguing recent draftees ever made by the organization.
