3 key ways Cam Newton could help the Carolina Panthers in 2022

Cam Newton could be an asset in Ben McAdoo’s scheme
There are some concerns about Cam Newton’s arm these days. This was evident throughout his brief time under center for the Carolina Panthers in 2021 and it’s clear that the signal-caller is not the force he once was in this particular area of play.
However, what cannot be disputed is Newton’s running ability. This remains of a high standard and is something that opposing defenses have to focus on considerably whenever he is in the lineup.
Becoming a downhill running team has been high on Matt Rhule’s wishes for some time. Ben McAdoo’s introduction as the new offensive coordinator should also help smooth this transition.
Newton is a physical runner that can still thrive in short-yardage and red-zone situations. Considering the need for Carolina to take some pressure off Christian McCaffrey next time around, re-signing the Heisman Trophy winner and utilizing him in special packages would be a real asset providing the player agrees to take on such a role.
The Panthers will take a good look at their current options and also seek the opinion of McAdoo before making their next move. But there are far worse avenues to go down than extending Newton at this stage of the preparation period.
