Matt Corral keen to grasp every opportunity

Matt Corral is coming into the Carolina Panthers with a chip on his shoulder and ambition in his heart. His steep drop to No. 94 overall obviously stung at the time, but opportunity certainly knocks for the Ole Miss product providing his transition goes smoothly in the coming weeks.

Corral certainly looks the part. He immediately undertook plenty of work with offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo almost joined at the hip, which will stand him in good stead as the signal-caller gets set to compete with Sam Darnold for the starting position in 2022.

Matt Rhule stated what general manager Scott Fitterer also suggested. If the season were to start today, Darnold gives Carolina the best chance of winning.

However, a lot can happen between now and when the Panthers welcome the Cleveland Browns to Bank of America Stadium in Week 1. There is also a possibility of another veteran coming into the mix way before then.

Doing the little things right is the best way for Corral to stake his claim. The lightning-fast release and impressive mobility were evident throughout his rookie minicamp, which is a good start even if there is a long way to go.

Corral is also answering questions in front of the media like a pro. Something that further typifies his character and poise in the spotlight.
